So Jesus responded, “I don’t teach my own ideas, but the truth revealed to me by the One who sent me. If you want to test my
teachings and discover where I received them, first be passionate to do God’s will, and then you will be able to discern if
my teachings are from the heart of God or from my own opinions. Jn 7:16-17

About Soul Winning

Where is your "GO"?

4 years ago, the Lord began to revamp my thinking on Soul Winning. It is a rarity these days to hear somebody described as a Soul Winner. We hear of Pastors, Evangelists, and even Missionaries to other lands but, isn’t the underlying focus and priority the winning of souls? If that be the case then why is there very little identification in this culture with this one most important trait of christianity and why is in not deemed one of the most import characterizations of a maturing individual believer.

Two simple thoughts about becoming a soul winner that only scratch the surface but will get the ball rolling!

  1. “Living Epistles”. It doesn’t look like a system, it doesn’t read like a playbook, and never offends someone into the faith.
I had been taught everything from the “Roman’s Road”, how to give away my faith, I have read many books on Evangelism, and have a library of witnessing tools and resources. It wasn’t until I got a grip on what it means to be “Living Epistles” that characteristics of Soul Winning became a part of my life as a believer in Christ.

  1. The “Go” factor is the simplistically the most important element of becoming a soul winner.
We hear terms like “Walking Alongside”, “Community”, “Getting a Missional Mindset” and other more “Cultural” colloquialisms that when added to our dialogue or christian speak would lead others to believe that we were about to turn the world upside down… Wait for it!… And then nothing happens.
What if we just “Go”? What if Soul Winning was the single most important objective of everyday? What if I looked at it from the standpoint that it has been wired into my DNA as a child of the King? And, What if I just GO into all the world, wherever it is I’m going, realizing that it is not my eloquence, my biblical understanding, my tolerance of others, or my relational abilities that are going to win others over. What if it really is the Goodness of God that leads to repentance and I was willing to just “Go” everywhere telling others of His Goodness towards me?

Final question, Could it be that Soul Winning is just walking through your days as a living display of God’s good work in your life through the victories and the the struggles?

All I know is this! My Soul has only ever been revived by those who live out the Goodness of God in their own lives. Meanwhile and in contrast, It seems that all to often in our modern day cultural circles, It would seem that the “GO” is absent in the present soul winning of our culture!

Lastly, Put the Simple back into your "GO"!

Just go! Don't wait, just move in what the Lord gives you to do, and where He sends you! Is it work where you can proclaim His goodness? Is it family, or friends that you can be a Living Epistle on the Go? Is it in your recreation, your travel, Is it in the present struggles you are experiencing that you can bring the goodness of God into?

Food for thought!
